Blender & Yafray

3D Engineering is really cool ... really getting into it just as Fabrice is getting into video editing. Here is my low effort work in Blender. Now I can export that render directly to GL and play with it. Looking forward to play PlaneShift as well.

Multitouch Screen

The future of touchscreen is here. Check this out.

VTP Plant Library

Apart from being a very cool site the VTP plant library is awsome. Thanks very much for the excellent work. Hope to be making some Austrlian additions to it as well as prevent them from burning up and releasing all the Carbon.

FarCry

At Fabrice's insistence I checked out the FarCry Engine. Very very nice given with a licence you get full source and R&D support. Now if only it supports full world mode or you can switch engines smoothly once you zoom in. Going to get in touch.

Off to Melbourne

Will be off blogging for a few days. Going to Melbourne for a holiday and to meet someone. Hopefully will not think of work and relax. And have nice stories to tell and photos when I get back.

I can hardly find anything to pack.Except a few clothes and my newly arrived GPU GEMS.

Finally Works on my Windows - JNLP

Finally got it to work with Windows .. here is the side by side comparison. Please ignore the low resolution.

Jake2 Review

Finally some JOGL game that works over Webstart and gives decent FPS. The venerated Quake engine in full JOGL implementation. Check out the Jake2 webstart. The screenshot also looks nice. Microsoft ClickOnce also looks promising for fast application deployment.

In other news really looking forward to some time off my obsessions and my trip to Melbourne.

Xstream

I was tired of configuring a Psuedo GPS server with multiple sources till I found XStream -- really easy to use for configs and backing in XML. You will have to do it by hand once after you have designed your objects and serialized them, after that adding multiple sources is a breeze via vectors. No messing around with beans, no compulsary getters and setters, just appropriate constructors. Axis should use this to serialize objects in SOAP that are not XML standard and JAVA specific.

WebStart JNLP frustration

Frustrating is the word to sum up the day .... after all the fiddling I only got the webstart to work on my Gentoo Box. No joy in Windows ... if you are feeling adventurous try out JOGL RealTimeClouds. The day's summary is as below. For something that actually works check FluidIdiom. If you are willing to test on Mac or Solaris please leave me a comment.

BMNG + Real Time Clouds

In an effort to beat EUMETSAT prettyness I have used JOGL and JAVA 2D to blend Xplanet Real Time Clouds and NASA Blue Marble New Generation to produce some previews of next gen WorldWind ... enjoy.

The world is a bit of a heavy baggage but we all have our little hobbies and pastimes and past.

Ship Tracking

Ship tracking can be a reality with this, the ship track logs are also shown. Already added to EarthFlicks.

Savi

Managed to read Lloyd's site - amazing guy. His SAVI code can be an useful addon to the worldwind sateliite tracker now that the GeomView is sort of defunct. Here is some constellation footprint mapping stuff. Looks cooler in realtime ...
and finally I am glad I haven't started a Phd like this.

World Wind add-ons

World Wind add-ons

I am gonna try add the SAVI simulator code to check against the satellite tracker plugin and have view cones etc. Have a look at the SAVI post.
